How could that be? He would've heard the glass shattering and the thumping of furniture being overturned. He backed up slowly, trying to figure out what happened. And with a short gasp he realized Will wasn't in his sleeping bag. A jacket was sprawled over a lamp and the glass from his window lay in a pile under the sill. His alarm clock was shattered, and his bedsheets were shredded to pieces. His room was completely destroyed, papers and pencils lying on the ground, comic books thrown off the shelf in a small pile. He grit his teeth and opened his door quickly, and his face paled as a rush of winter-like cold rushed him. He used to enjoy the autumn months, but the post apocalypse-like atmosphere of the Upside Down ruined it for him. It was getting colder out, the trees leaves turning a brownish-yellow color. When his hand hit the doorknob to his room, he pulled away, wincing. He finished up and made his way back down the hallway. He looked over at his alarm clock and sighed.Ī chill ran up his spine before he stood up from his bed, careful not to wake Will, and went to the bathroom, brushing his teeth and quietly humming a tune. He was making their life a living hell, changing the normalcy of their world into the place they were scared of most. Mike felt a tugging in his heart whenever Will let his expression slip, the true fear and despair etched across his face when he thought no one could see. Will had fallen quiet over the past weeks, at least quieter than usual. Just that he was getting stronger, preparing, and he would attack soon. That his sense was going haywire, he couldn’t tell where Vecna was. Will was the only one who could sense Vecna, who could feel if he was nearby, but a few days before, Mike and Will had sat down on Will's bed, and he told him that with every passing day the feeling down his spine got stronger, that the goosebumps were almost permanent at this point. They had gotten nowhere, grasping at straws, trying to figure out when and where Vecna would attack next. It had been about six months since the field, and the Upside Down.
